>> and our coverage on the cold weather continues, at 5:30 p.m. to the north bay, preparing for a freeze warning. day three of a search comes to a clothe. his plane disappeared sunday after he reported engine trouble and tried to land in idaho. today 60 people, two helicopters and 5 planes were looking for his small plane. they broughtened yesterday's search in which they -- broadened yesterday's search in which they detected a signal. the signal was not detected today. police released a sketch hoping to find a man who robbed two women last week. both women said a dark skinned man attacked them and stole their purses, the attacks happened on two different days. he is 25 to 30 years old.

involving a missing 13-year-old girl, tonight she back home with her family after missing for three days. a family member found her in san jose today at 11:00 a.m. she left her home sunday morning and spotted getting into a car with three males. a search was launched after she failed to get in touch with family and friends. 17-year-old high school student has bib identified as -- been identified as the bike rider hit and killed by a suv last night. he was riding his bike before 7:00. he was rushed to the hospital where he died. the driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperating with police. city college of san francisco seen a drop in enrollment for the spring semester. enrollment is down 26% or 2,000 students compared to last year. officials say there are three

governor jerry brown's approval ratings are up, they are the highest since 2011. according to our ktvu poll. the governor's numbers are up 7 points since july. 58% approve of the job he is doing. 33% disapprove. 9% had no opinion. back in july 51% approved. 33% disapproved and 16% had no opinion. governor jerry brown hasn't said if he plans to run next year. two republicans have announced their candidacy. 52% say they would vote for governor jerry brown. 25% are undecided.

shot. ktvu's david stevenson is live in san francisco where the da is calling it very disturbing. >> reporter: prosecutors told us the victim tried to push the gun away and they detailed how the network that led up to the encounter was used to help catch the suspect. >> reporter: the family of ikenna uwakah had little to say as they went to court. >> human being losing his life over a playstation 4, i think that is disturbing. >> reporter: police say ronnie collins responded to an instagram add advertising the sale of a playstation 4. they met sunday afternoon in a park and he pointed a gun as they sat in a car. ikenna uwakah tried to push the gun away and offered to give him the playstation 4.

live with people are gearing up for a second night of freeze warnings. >> reporter: right now we are at the nursery here in american canyon and most of the plants they have here are protected enough by that structure you see but some of the more sensitive plants they have them covered up right now. temperatures are expected to get down into the 20s here tonight in american canyon and we found plenty of people who are preparing plants, pipes and preparing to get by over night. >> good to water them before the frost. >> reporter: saving plants from the cold. >> i will get to these. >> reporter: this is an orange tree that wilted. the owner says our change in weather played a role. >> we had so much warm weather

new information on today's b.a.r.t. train scare. it left many passengers complaining they were left in the dark too long. a the breaks locked -- the brocks locked up in the frontal an hour. -- in the tunnel for an hour. ktvu's john sasaki learned the haze of break dust inside the train had some riders on the verge of panic. >> reporter: smoke with the smell of burning breaks is what left some riders concerned about their safety. it came to a stop at 8:30 a.m. this morning in the tunnel. people were overcome by the smoke and some had to be treated. but what upset some passengers

were a total lack of communication from b.a.r.t. >> we can understand being in a situation like that, in the middle of a tunnel, train is not moving, you see the operating doing something, it is concerning and we always want to give every bit of detail we have but sometimes we don't have all the details at the moment. >> reporter: passengers say no announcement was made. john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. the man accused of killing a tsa agent last month at los angeles international airport had his first appearance before a judge this morning. paul ciancia did not enter a plea. paul ciancia's first appearance was delayed because he has been recovering in the hospital after being shot by officers.

investigators say he killed a tsa agent and wounded three other people. he could face the death penalty. san jose firefighters are looking for a man after a fire destroyed his mobile home. the fire started about 2:00 a.m. this morning. fire crews responded to several calls about the fire and aproved to find -- arrived to find the home fully engulfed. after the fire was out they searched for the resident and they say at this point they are confident he was not at home at the time. neighbors say there have been several fire in the complex. >> this is the third one, down the street from us, i mean, this is shocking to me. >> two of the fires were caused by electrical problems. a third caused by a lit cigarette. the cause of this fire is still under investigation. the new word of the year is far different than the trendy
